  RUSSIAN VISA

Please be aware that government regulation requires the visa to enter Russia for almost all foreign visitors. The application rules vary per visa type and also depend on the applicant's country of residence. Also please check that Your medical insurance is valid in Russia (also check that for Your accompanying persons). The local committee will provide You an official letter of invitation which will greatly simplify the visa application procedure. Please read carefully the following instructions on the Russian visa application

  • Any person may apply for Russian visa in any Russian Consulate. However this procedure may be not very simple unless the person is invited by some Russian institution.
  • We strongly suggest You to request the letter of invitation from the Local committee.
  • To obtain such a letter please fill in the following inquiry form which is available on our website as MS Word (click here to download) or a PDF (click here) file.
  • You may choose to use the MS WORD file to complete the form using the PC or print the form and do it by hand. In the letter case may we suggest that You use BLOCK letters please.
  • Please send the completed form to the Local committee by e-mail PRUAC@poi.dvo.ru. We also require a copy of Your passport (a scan, say as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file, color, 300 dpi) which should be also attached to the same e-mail.
  • We will use Your data to request an official letter of invitation from the Russian Federal Migration Service (FMS). It is expected to be issued some 1-2 months before the conference dates. We will send these letters to the participants by an express delivery service (UPS or DHL).
  • The foreign participants should apply for a Russian visas in a Russian consulate supporting their applications with the obtained invitation letters.
  • Provided that the application is supported by the FMS letter, the visa is expected to be issued by the Russian consulate in some 7 working days.
!IMPORTANT: Please be aware that visa application should be submitted to the very Russian Consulate which is specified in the inquiry form. Give a careful thought to the choice of Consulate for Your application when completing the inquiry form!

Russia is a beautiful country! We encourage You to visit also other Russian cities besides Vladivostok. We suggest however to carefully plan Your trip and specify the cities You wish to visit when completing the inquiry form.

  VLADIVOSTOK AIRPORT

Vladivostok is connected by regular flights to many major cities in Asia. There are direct flights operated by Aeroflot Russian Airlines to Seoul (Incheon airport, two times a day), Tokyo (weekly), Hong Kong (weekly), Busan and Moscow (two times a day) and by S7 Airlines to Tokyo, Seoul and Moscow.

Japan Airlines also operates direct flights from Vladivostok to Tokyo, and there are also direct flights by Korean Air and Asiana Airlines from Vladivostok to Seoul.

The Vladivostok International airport is located some 35 km from the Vladivostok downtown. The easiest way to get to the downtown is to take an Aeroexpress train (click here to check the timetable). The 2nd class ticket from the Airport to city center costs 200 RUB (approximately 5 USD). Another option is to take a taxi (at a price of 1000 RUB, approximately 25 USD).

The local committee may also arrange pick up of the foreign participants at the airport.
